For the personal users of Facebook the search bar at the top of the page is a very important part of the user interface. Unfortunately, for businesses who establish a business page that is not associated with a personal account there is no search bar, rendering Facebook pretty useless as a marketing tool. The business page is effectively an island within the world of Facebook without a search bar.
What to do?
Do not administer the site from the company administration log-in but instead set up administrators and contributors whom have a Personal account because they will be able to toggle between the personal page and the business page.
The challenge that many larger businesses will have is making changes to their IT policies – many companies ban the use of social media – however, if they want to effectively use Facebook there will have to be changes in policy.
