Validate your Site Using this SEO Checklist!
When evaluating a web site for SEO performance the following check lists are completed. The objective is to determine how relevant a web site is for the target keywords (On-Page SEO) and how popular a web site for the target keywords (Off-Page SEO).
On-Page SEO Checklist
- Establish the target keywords for the clients business using Google Keyword Planner and Answer the Public
- Evaluate the performance of the key words by using an SEO report card
- If applicable, competition analysis
- Does each page have a Title Tag – Are they relevant?
- Does each page have a Meta description? Are the relevant?
- Headings Status (H1, H2 etc)
- Copy Content
- Are keywords used in anchor links?
- What is the keyword density?
- Internal/External Links
- Does a sitemap.XML file exist?
- Does the customer use Google/Bing Search Console/Google Analytics and Google Business
- Validate the Robots.txt
- Check broken links
- IP Canoncalization
- Mobile compatibility
- Structured Data for Rich Snippets
- Google microsites
- Page speed – slow loading sites are punished
Off-Page SEO Checklist
- What is the Domain Authority and the DA of the businesses competitors?
- How many other web sites link to the client’s site?
- How many links do these sites produce
- Asses the quality of the connecting sites via Domain Authority
- Analyze link anchor text
- Assess social media mentions
